Video: How to Tie the Winter Wonder

As Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions argues at the beginning of this video, “Sometimes, simpler is better.” In this great tying lesson, Tim shows you how to tie a steelhead-and-trout nymph that has been stripped down to the bare essentials. The result, Tim says, sinks quickly, is more durable, and is just as effective as more complicated versions.

As usual, Tim walks you through each step of the tying process, explaining how and why he makes every move. There’s nothing tricky or fancy here, and it’s a pattern you can tie in a variety of colors and sizes to match the season or the conditions.

Make sure watch Tim’s videos in full 4K resolution. You’ve never seen fly tying look so good.
