Tideline and The Post and Courier will hold Cast It Forward, an event bringing together anglers and other outdoor and conservation enthusiasts, on Feb. 5 at Firefly Distillery in North Charleston.

A portion of the proceeds from this oyster roast and barbecue will benefit Release Over 20, whose mission is to create an improved and sustainable abundance of fish for future generations. The inaugural Cast It Forward will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Featured speakers on the main stage include C.A Richardson — full-time fishing guide and instructor, Z-Man Fishing pro-angler and host of the award-winning television show, FlatsClass TV. Specializing in light tackle, artificial lures, fly, and shallow water fishing, he travels the coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.

Also taking the stage will be Capt. Matt Chipperfield. Chipperfield is a renowned guide in the Jacksonville, Fla., area and a legend amongst trout anglers from Texas to Virginia. At Cast It Forward, he will share strategies to target late winter/early spring trout and the importance of conservation.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during two panel discussions.

One of the panels will discuss Charleston Fishing: Then and Now. It will feature two of Charleston’s first fishing guides, Ralph Phillips and Mike Able Sr., and will be moderated by Tommy Braswell, a veteran sports and outdoors journalist for The Post and Courier.

The second panel, Women in Fishing, will feature some of the most knowledgeable and experienced female anglers in the Lowcountry — Pamela Corwin, Kelsey Dick, Tanya Dowdy and Mandy Henderson. The Women in Fishing panel will be moderated by fellow female angler P.J. Browning, president and publisher of The Post and Courier.

Attendees can also enjoy new product showcases from Z-Man Fishing and Pure Flats, safe handling demonstrations and children’s activities including casting instruction, fish prints and knot tying by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, live music by Southbound 17 food trucks and a vendor village. Plus, the opportunity to interact with their favorite Lowcountry anglers to follow on YouTube and Instagram.

To further support Release Over 20, Tideline will also be hosting a silent auction. Event attendees can browse through auction items including chartered fishing trips, wildlife art, fishing gear and more, then make their bids online. The auction will be open to non-event attendees as well, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Release Over 20.

General admission tickets are $30 per person. Admission is free for children 12 and under. A limited number of all-inclusive tickets that include the oyster roast and barbecue are still available for $85 per person.
