Dennis Alan Sieber, 88, of Milroy and formerly of Lewistown, passed away at 4 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.

Born Jan. 24, 1933, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Hugh B. and Catharine (Horning) Sieber.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife of 50 years, Rosalie (Guy) Sieber, whom he married July 16, 1955; sister, Claire Dorgeloh, and brothers, Neil, William and Robert Sieber. He was the last of his immediate family.

Dennis is survived by children, Dianne Carroll and, Ed Heath, of Pittsburgh, Dennis Alan Sieber, of State College, Mark A. Sieber and wife, Susan, of Huntingdon, Joseph E. Sieber and wife, Lori, of Dillsburg, and David G. Sieber, of Las Vegas, and three grandchildren, Jacob, Adeline and Vivian.

Dennis was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1950.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Guam and the Philippine Islands during the Korean War.

Dennis retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

A lifelong fisherman, Dennis loved fly fishing for wild trout, finding great joy for over 45 years streamside on Penns Creek. He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes, playing poker, woodworking, reading, and watching soccer and Penn State sports.

A viewing will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. A graveside service will follow at Mount Rock Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Lewistown, with Father Peter Rettig officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dennis’ memory may be made to: Mifflin County Library, 123 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044; Trout Unlimited, Penns Creek Chapter No. 119, c/o Joe Dunmire, 71 Dunmire, Drive, McVeytown, PA 17051; or to a charity of one’s choice.
