SEAMANS – William Earl, Jr.
“Keep doing good, it’s not a request, it’s an order”. Known to all for his one liners, the much loved, William E. Seamans, Jr., age 94, died at home in Williamsville, NY, on December 1, 2021. He was born March 11, 1927 to William Earl Seamans 1st and Leonore (Schreiner) in Scranton, PA. He was a 1945 graduate of Central High School, Scranton, PA, where in his senior year, he volunteered to join the Navy and go on to serve in WWII. After the war ended, he met and married Joan Elizabeth Nash-Whitney and together they raised eight children.
Mr. Seamans’ career was in mens’ and boys’ wear. He was the buyer and manager for several retail stores in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Upon moving to Western New York, he became a sales leader for the Blue Bell Wrangler company. Through his long career, he received numerous awards and accolades for his management, sales and leadership.
From a young age, following in his father’s footsteps, he became an avid fisherman and enjoyed the art of fly fishing for many years. After retirement, he took pleasure in the quiet of lake fishing at his summer home in the Adirondacks where he regularly welcomed his children and grandchildren.
An avid, semi-pro bowler, “Bill”, was a tournament top prize winner. “If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.” Always striving to improve, he created logs of self-critique after every big game. He became the President of the American Bowling Congress in Richmond, VA, as well captain of various leagues in Pennsylvania, Virginia and in Western New York.
Family members include his former wife, the late Joan E. Seamans; his twin sister Betty Jones, who passed away this year; seven daughters and one son.

Daughter, Joan Elizabeth Seamans of Williamsville, NY (Gary Nizinski) and her children Nicholas Nizinski, Alissa Nizinski. Daughter, Karen Dove of Murrells Inlet, SC. Daughter, Doreen Robinson (deceased) and her children Kristen Dougher (Deceased) Jessica Dougher, Ronald King. Son, William E. Seamans III of Buffalo, NY. Daughter, Sharon Pezzino of Williamsville, NY (Richard) and her children Elena Pezzino, Julianna Pezzino, Richard Pezzino. Daughter, Kathleen Seamans of Las Vegas, NV, and her children Justin Seamans, Jesse Seamans, Devan Seamans, Michael Seamans and Connor Seamans. In addition, Mr. Seamans is survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
