Starting on September 1, many of you committed to an important challenge: trying to get out on the water at least 20 times during the 30 days of the month. This is a concept that dates back to 2014–here’s the original post–which means that this is the 10th attempt! I managed a respectable 22 days this year, which made for a very enjoyable late summer.
As an added incentive, although you probably didn’t need one, we launched our annual “20 Days in September” Photo Contest, which required entrants to post photos to Facebook or Instagram, along with the hashtags #20sepdays and #orvisflyfishing. After poring over thousands of entries, our crack team of in-house judges has come up with 10 finalists–which was no small task. You’ll note that one keen-eyed shutterbug made it in twice, which is a remarkable feat in and of itself.
Take a close look at the 10 photos below–listed alphabetically by the photographer’s last name–and then use the widget at the bottom to choose your three favorites. The photographers are competing for some great prizes, including a Helios 3 Fly Rod, a Mirage Fly Reel, and a PRO Insulated Hoodie.
We’ll also give a pair of made-in-the-USA Orvis Nippers to one randomly selected voter at the end of the contest, as well as a randomly selected person who posted a photo of them picking up trash while fishing.
Important Note: To be eligible to win the nippers, you MUST leave a comment about the photos in the comments section below. (That’s the only way we’ll know who you are, since the poll widget doesn’t collect data on voters.)
Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on SUNDAY, October 8th, and we will announce the winners on Tuesday, October 10th.
