Most fly tiers prize a pattern that’s easy to tie, requires few materials, and catches fish. The Whistle Pig Jig checks every box. With just a single material for the tails, body, and collar, it’s a pattern that you can crank out quickly, once you’ve got the steps down, and its buggy profile just screams “I’m trout food!”

In this week’s video, Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions shows you how to tie this great Pennsylvania-born pattern, and as usual, he offers a few tricks to make it even easier to tie. The way he spins and un-spins the thread is especially useful.
