Tom Travis is a legendary guide and fly tier from Livingston, Montana, where he specializes in fishing the spring creeks of Paradise Valley and the rivers of Yellowstone National Park. As a guide, you want to use patterns that are easy to tie and that your clients can see on the water. The Para Ant is a winner on both accounts. And trout are almost always in the mood to eat an ant.

In this great video from Tightline Productions, Tim Flagler shows you how to tie the Travis Para Ant, which requires just three materials. As usual, Tim has way to make a simple pattern even simpler, and I love the way he creates the parachute post with minimal bulk and removes the difficulty of tying off the post on such a small pattern.
