Here’s the latest installment in an ongoing series of videos called “One-Minute Fly-Tying Tips and Techniques” from Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions. Each video teaches a single tying skill, from the most basic to the advanced. Ultimately, the series will serve as a sort of encyclopedia of tying skills that will be a valuable resource for anyone who sits down at a vise to create a fly.

This week, Tim shows you how adding a CDC collar can make a fly more lifelike in the water. As usual, his method for creating the collar is efficient and takes durability into account. The way you attach the CDC feather to the hook is important, and then it’s just a matter of wrapping and sweeping the fiber rearward with each turn. The results speak for themselves, when Tim drops the pattern into the water.
