Video: How to Add a Tippet to a Sinking Line

When you’re fishing dry flies or nymphs, leader-and-tippet construction can get complicated. Not so when you’re casting streamers on a sinking or sinking-tip line. As Tom Rosenbauer explains, all uses are two sections of straight monofilament with a tippet ring between them. Sometimes, he’ll even use a micro-swivel in place of the tippet ring. The advantage of this system is that you can quickly switch to lighter or heavier tippet as the situation requires, and if you do break a fish off, re-rigging is a snap because it will always break below the tippet ring or swivel.
