Here’s another “One-Minute Fly-Tying Tips and Techniques” video from Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions. Each video teaches a single tying skill, from the most basic to the advanced. Ultimately, the series will serve as a sort of encyclopedia of tying skills that will be a valuable resource for anyone who sits down at a vise to create a fly.

In this great video, Tim explain why hemostats–which you probably use on the water to help remove hooks–are also really useful at the tying table. Because it can hold even a small hook securely, a hemostat works great for final trimming and clean-up. If you tie with deer hair a lot, you’ll definitely want to include a long hemostat to your tying kit.
