Mr. Steven Lewis Thomas passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at the age of 76. He was born in Sanford, North Carolina, on July 21, 1945, to the late Eldon and Lola Page Thomas and was married to Nancy Newbill Thomas, who survives.
Steve loved the outdoors, especially fly fishing with his handmade flies. He worked as a fishing guide in Alaska and South Carolina. Artistically, there was nothing Steve couldn’t do. Over the years, he has had many illustrations published and he has carved numerous wildlife woodworks.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by daughters Kimberly “Dawn” Thomas Ohlendorf, Sherri Thomas Gamble and Patricia Dunkley Watts; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Claudia “Nell” Thompson, of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Tootie.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
