There are few places in the world where you can enjoy opulent luxury and true wilderness at the same time, but Falcon Brae Villa is one. Nestled in a secluded valley with panoramic views of soaring mountains and the mighty Motueka River – this is a one-of-a-kind property.

Welcome to the Falcon Brae Villa

Book a stay here and you can expect the ultimate luxury experience, flawless service and even a private chef. The Villa itself is a site to behold, architecturally designed and featuring unique elliptical falcon wing roofs.

“There’s not a single person who doesn’t walk through the front door and say ‘wow’. It has 360 degree views over the mountains of Kahurangi National Park, and has a quiet, calming atmosphere,” says managing director John Kerr.

The 720 sqm property is located on 350 acres of private land, surrounded by two rivers, a private forest and some of New Zealand’s best native bush walks. Inside, there’s a central lounge with a 5-metre ceiling, sunken bar, grand piano, high tech gym, media theatre, 3 dining areas and a games room. The lush outdoor area boasts views of the mountains and Motueka river, outdoor pool, heated spa, outdoor dining area and even a helipad terrace.

It’s fair to say a holiday at Falcon Brae would be an experience you’d remember for the rest of your life.

From heli-fishing to Abel Tasman hiking

Thanks to its location 50 minutes from Nelson and between three of NZ’s most scenic national parks, there’s no shortage of incredible things to do at Falcon Brae Villa.

A short walk from the property, you’ll find some of New Zealand’s (and the world’s) best fly fishing in the Motueka River, known for its population of oversized wild brown trout. Go yourself or book a guide to maximise your chances of catching a monster.

Guests also have access to a helicopter for scenic heli-tours over the stunning Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi national parks. Heli-hiking, heli-fishing and helicopter transfers from Nelson airport are also available.

Each of the three suites (two Master & one Junior Suite) offer total privacy and utmost luxury, with floor to ceiling glass windows, private balconies, and breathtaking views of the mountains and the river below.

Vinophiles will love the fact that Falcon Brae is located less than an hour driving from no less than 28 world-class wineries. It’s also nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s hop-growing region, surrounded by craft beer breweries famous for their hoppy new world ales.

Despite all that, the best thing about Falcon Brae’s location has to be its proximity to Abel Tasman National Park, which we’d argue is New Zealand’s most breathtaking region. Guests can use the villa as a base to explore the national park via hiking, private boat cruise or heli-tour.

Kerr says guests always love the chance to have an adventure or sit back and soak in the atmosphere:

“There’s a sense of freedom here, as well as a feeling of calm and peace. Whether you’re relaxing in front of the view, or taking a helicopter to the West Coast and riding horses on the beach.”

The luxurious bathrooms are beautifully appointed with twin basins, a large dressing room, deep baths, separate showers, and heated floors & towel rails.

A rare opportunity

Kerr says it’s seen a few interesting guests since opening in January:

“The calibre of guests so far has been incredible. We had a couple of famous rockstars here, but I can’t say any names of course.”

The villa usually hosts mainly international guests but after the events of 2020, changes to prices and booking policy has made stays here a lot more accessible for Kiwis.

Usually, the villa is only available for exclusive use but for a limited time, individual suites can be booked at a fraction of the usual price. Exclusive use is also available at a discounted rate. Larger groups of up to 18 can also book the adjoining Stonefly Lodge (also owned and operated by John and Kate) for a total capacity of 14 adults and 4 children, with all catering and entertainment at Falcon Brae Villa.
