Hunting season opens — southwest Nebraska special elk depredation season (private land only).

Archery event — 1-mile archery hike with 10 stations, noon to 4 p.m., Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center, 4703 N. 44th St. Ages 8 and up, beginners welcome.
