Oakdale’s Randy Pierson knows a thing or two about fishing. He knows enough, in fact, to be able to make a living out of it.”How crazy of a dream of that? Everyone who fishes, that’s their dream and I’ve succeeded with it,” Pierson said. The sport reeled him in at a young age. Pierson said he was about 3 or 4 years old when he would go fishing during family camping trips. But the doors really opened in 2018 at the Bass Nation Championship on Pickwick Lake in Alabama where he went and won the entire competition. That win earned him an invitation to the Bassmaster’s Classic and a spot on the Bassmasters Elite Series.“It’s the best in the world and it’s an eye-opener. I used to think I was pretty darn good on the West Coast but I went back East and I’m not as good as I thought I was,” Pierson said.His best finish on the circuit came back in July on Lake Champlain. “That was exciting. I had the camera crews with me and I ended finishing 19th and was third after the first day.”As for his goals for the upcoming season: Let it fly. Pierson is having a meet-and-greet at Chicken Ranch Casino in Jamestown on Friday from 3-6 p.m.
