Crab taken from party boats south of Mendocino County must measure at least six inches across.More information about recreational Dungeness Crab fishing regulations can be found on the CDFW’s website. YUM! Crab,,, it’s what’s for dinner!

BLUE LAKES – GREAT NEWS for the Upper Blue Lake.  This week the Upper Blue Lake will receive a trout plant.  Hot Dog!  With the additional 3,000 trout the fishin’ will be great. Don’t forget about the bass fishin’, it’s also pretty good.  The advantage Blue Lakes has over Clear Lake is Blue Lakes does not have an over abundance of bait fish.  This means you will have much more success with artificial baits.   Boy, if you are not  fishing Blue Lake you are missing out.

CLEAR LAKE – Clear Lake is beautiful right now.  The water quality is good and the fall colors on the trees make for a great back drop as you hook into a ten pounder!  What a wonderful mental picture.  The bass fishin’ has moved into it’s winter mode.  With water temperatures running in the mid to lower 50’s the bass have become less active.  The hot ticket has been using minnows.  Drifting a minnow along bass Alley or along the Narrows will get you hooked up.  Some anglers have also been catching bass along with some Catfish pitchin’ a minnow under docks.

Speaking of Catfish, the Catfishin’ has been excellent. Most catfishermen have not had a hard time bringing in five to seven nice Catfish per outing.  As of late, twenty pounders have not been all that uncommon.  Floating a bobber with a minnow or nightcrawler has been working best

LAKE PILLSBURY – I’m saving the BEST FOR LAST!  The lake, she is fillin’ up ! plus, the fishin’ on Lake Pillsbury is on fire right now!  There are many good reports that have anglers boasting about the incredible fishin’.  Bass anglers that have made their way up to the lake have been hooking into 20 plus bass per outing! The area along the dam is holding a lot of large bass right now.

Also, several of the folks that have been trolling for Trout have been doing quite well.  Many over 24 inches long.  Most are trolling the west side of the lake.  Why is Lake Pillsbury’s fishin’ so good?  I’m not quite sure, but there isn’t much fishing pressure up there, and that has to help.

The Upper MILL CREEK POND – Three cheers for the Ca. Dept. Fish & Wildlife!   HIP-Hip , Hurray!  For about 2 months now, they have been stocking the Upper Mill Creek Pond with steel/head trout. I know that the regular anglers that fish up there are not happy with me because I am putting the word out… Sorry gang !

You all got share the love!   Pink and orange Powerbait has been working well off the bottom and, Roostertails, Super-Dupers and Panthers will work if the are feeding on the surface. Also hear that some guys have been hooking into some good ones fly fishing. C.D.F.W.‘s Brett Wilson also told me that,”the schedule for that lake has changed a bit from the beginning. We are now planting that water every two weeks with about 1000 Steelhead. The season now runs from October through March. We started this last October so the lake is full of 1 to 2lb trout.”  Holy Smokes folks! GO GET ‘UM!

– F.Y.I. – PLEASE help keep this fishing area clean. Unfortunately, there are those that do not respect what we have and trash it…. Bring a trash bag with you and take some trash back out with you.
