BRUNSWICK – For the second straight year, Maine Fly Company is holding its annual Summer Showcase, this time, to benefit “Casting for Recovery.”

The two day event kicked off on Friday with the striped bass fly fishing tournament happening virtually across the state.

On Saturday, vendors and anglers will gather at Thomas Point in Brunswick for the Expo Showcase starting at 10 a.m. The day will include vendors, food trucks, clinics and demos, but most importantly, a day with the common goal of raising money for a cause.

“We just wanted to bring the fly fishing community, the outdoor community together once a year for something bigger than us that we can all, almost have a reunion on the field come showcase day, but get anglers out on the water and all of the money that we raise, all of the profits goes to our cause every year,” said Jeff Davis, Founder of Maine Fly Company.

This year’s non-profit, “Casting for Recovery,” is an organization that supports women battling breast cancer by introducing them to the therapeutic sport of fly fishing.

“That organization nationally has about a 99% retention rate that these women continue to fly fish as one of their means of therapy moving forward,” Davis said.

For those who can’t make the event, donations can still be made on the “Casting for Recovery” website.
