Lisa Greene Sprouse
Lisa was born January 19, 1965 to Kenneth Greene and Anna Laura Copeland Greene.
Left to survive her is her true love, best friend, through and through fishing companion and husband of 31 years Brian D. Sprouse and their son Emory Copeland Sprouse. Emory is loved to the moon and back by Brian and Lisa. Lisa was exceptionally blessed to have Brian as a husband and Emory as her son. She is also survived by her brother Kenny Greene and his wife Robin. She is also survived by Kenny’s children niece Kelsea Greene Burton and her spouse Dr. Luke Burton their three children Lyla, Harper Ann, and Mae. Nephew Jordan Greene and his spouse Hayley their two children Nash (Curly) and Dawson Greene. Lisa is also survived by cousins Diane Neighbors and her spouse Steve their child Josh Neighbors his spouse Katherine their two children Henry and Julia.
Lisa loved fishing all her life. Her greatest joy every year for 30 years has been to go to fish Thanksgiving week at Hatteras Island. The majority of these adventures have been shared with Paige and David Ziegler and their families. This week provided a lively time of fishing and revelry. Lisa and Brian also fished the Core Banks in their slide in trucker camper. It did not take much to make she and Brian happy Their feet in sand, fresh bait and their rod slung out.
Moreover, an occasional cake with lard icing. Many Red Drum were caught along with watching sunrises and sunsets that gave them a glimpse of God’s handiwork. Lisa loved the ocean from North Carolina to South Carolina. When not fishing in NC many vacations were spent with Diane and Steve at Litchfield Retreat sitting by the ocean for the tide to take our troubles away. We would finish the night eating barbecued shrimp and sopping the beautiful sauce with crusty bread.
Lisa dedicated her life as a Social Worker. She worked for McDowell County DSS for over thirty years. She served on many boards throughout her career. Lisa also worked for Hospice of McDowell for five years. However, her true passion and calling was serving others. Emory has many stories of what this looked like in his youth and the lessons he learned.
Our family has experienced life in many forms. The glorious births of children, the deaths of our family. Our family through these times have clung to their faith as they will now. For we know this is not our home and we will all be together again. We are all just passing through.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church with Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. A reception and time of fellowship will follow.
The family would ask please don’t feel inclined to dress in your best for the celebration of Lisa’s life but dress comfortable to worship. The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Vanderkwaak (Dr. V). Hope Women’s Cancer Center and all it’s amazing staff. Dr Edward St. Bernard (Denzel), Tonya Waycaster (half full) Cresta (half empty), Jillian, and McKayla. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sara Kuhl, Eddie, Emily, and all the Junior Rangers.
There will not be an official interment for Lisa, but someday her and Brian’s ashes will be taken to Buxton NC. Together they will have their ashes thrown out in the ocean they dearly love.
