THE Rhyl and St Asaph Angling Association’s fly-fishing tuition events aim to introduce a new generation to a great pastime that could last a lifetime.

The group has experienced casting instructors and the events are open to all ages and abilities.

The events are free for juniors (younger than 16) and the cost to adult non-members is £10, which is refunded if they later decide to join the association.

Starting time is 10.30am, finishing at about 3pm.

At a previous event, junior member Noa Parry caught a blue trout, a rainbow trout and a brown trout (pictured), which he’s about to release.

Head coach Dave Gartside said: “Following initial casting tuition, our learners are then fly fishing for trout in our spring-fed lake near Denbigh.

“One rainbow trout, if caught, may be taken home.

“We advise everyone to bring suitable clothing and lunch but we supply all the fishing equipment.”

The next event is on Saturday, July 9. Places are strictly limited to ensure everyone receives the full attention of the casting coaches.
