Funeral services for John Culbertson Thom IV, 79, who passed away July 3, in Portland, Oregon will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo with Rev. Doug Wasinger officiating. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside rites to follow the funeral. Memorial Donations in John’s name may be made to the Thom Scholarship Fund, in care of Harness Funeral Home, at 351 N Adams, Buffalo, WY 82834. John was born in New York City in 1943 to Mary Margaret and John C Thom III. He graduated from St. Francis College in 1971 majoring in business administration, computer science and philosophy. He went on to earn an MBA from Wharton School of Business. He spent the majority of his career in executive sales roles followed by 12 years as an Edward Jones financial advisor in Portland.
In 1988, he married Linda Hermanson in Portland and was a devoted husband and father to his four children. He was a lifelong Yankees fan and baseball aficionado, collected vintage toy soldiers, enjoyed golfing, fly fishing and family gatherings in Buffalo.
He is survived by his wife Linda and children Peter, Annie, Kirsten and Hannah and brother William B Thom.
John was preceded in death by his father John C. Thom III, brother Steve Thom, sister Margot Thom, and mother Mary Margaret.
