Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel just started taking each summer off from his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Perhaps he’s spending a chunk of all that free time in Idaho.
Kimmel and angler Oliver White purchased the South Fork Lodge near Swan Valley, according to the Wall Street Journal. The paper reported the lodge will undergo an update, and when it reopens next year for the fly fishing season, it will include “fishing art and books from Kimmel’s personal collection.”
The lodge, not too far from the Wyoming border, east of Idaho Falls, boasts what it calls “luxury accomodations” with access to the Snake River for fly fishing activities.
Kimmel told USA Today this year that he and his family road-tripped to Idaho.
“My 6-year-old and I went and bought an RV, and then I loaded the whole family into it and we drove up to Idaho,” he said. “ It was quite an adventure. It was really like an ’80s movie, but it was fun.”
Rods Ready makes the purchase
According to WSJ, negotiations took more than a year to finalize the deal.
BoiseDev reviewed State of Idaho business filings, which show Rods Ready of Van Nuys, CA formally took control of the business in the eyes of the state in June. The Kimmel/McNearny 2014 Trust manages Rods Ready. Molly McNearny married Kimmel in 2013.
The sales price of the lodge wasn’t disclosed, but owners listed it for just shy of $8 million in 2019.
A number of smaller Idaho lodges hit the market in recent months, as BoiseDev reported, including Sourdough Lodge, Featherville Resort, Silvercreek Plunge and a different South Fork Lodge.
