James D. Shepter
A memorial service will be held for James D. Shepter, 89, of Hamden, at 10:00 am, Friday, June 10, 2010, at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home in Hamden, CT. Jim died peacefully in his sleep at home in Hamden on June 2, 2022. He was born on January 10, 1933, in New Haven, CT, to Kathleen and Joseph Shepter of Hamden and spent his childhood summers at Mansfield Grove in East Haven, CT. He graduated from Hopkins Grammar School in 1951, where he participated in track, soccer and swimming, and attended Indiana University, where he graduated in 1955. Jim then joined the Army, where he served in Germany and acquired a lifelong love of travel. Jim worked only to see the world as he wished. He worked in construction as a plumber and foreman, among other things, building pools in Saudi Arabia and mansions in Seattle and Las Vegas. He loved the outdoors, fly-fishing, Montana, Hawaii, Germany and was always up for a new adventure. Jim also cared for both his aunt, Mae Donahue and his mother, Kathleen Mulligan Shepter Milici, throughout their lives. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Shepter. He is survived by his niece, Kathleen Scarlett; nephew, Joe Shepter and his wife Nicole; surrogate son, Richard FitzGerald; and grandniece and nephews Charlotte, Jonathan and William. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home , 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
