James “Jimmie” Rook, 57, of Melbourne, Iowa, passed away on May 2, 2022.

Jim was a man who “never quit,” which was reflected by his AFSCME Never Quit Award. He was nominated by his co-workers and awarded in 2017. The same year, he married the woman who deserved his heart. Melissa and Jim shared a love for family, Harley Davidson, the outdoors and fly fishing in their heaven on earth, Decorah, Iowa. They worked and met at the Iowa Veterans Home, where they took pride in providing care for our nation’s veterans. Jim started working at IVH at the age of 18, and embraced being a friend to every resident he cared for until the day he retired. He was a kind and humble husband who adored his wife, loving father who told his son he was proud and a friend who would give the shirt off his back. Jimmie was a man with 9 lives. He overcame obstacles in each one with a smile showing there was nothing he couldn’t do. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Per Jim’s request there were no formal services. His cremains will be buried in lot #197 at the LaMoille Cemetery within the following months. If you would like to pay your respects, there will be a post to his facebook page upon burial placement.
