The annual Indian Creek Watershed Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at CW Resh Park in Indian Head. There will be fly fishing demonstrations, kids’ activities, storytime, gear swap, food and vendors. Be one of the first 100 children participating in the fishing derby and receive a free fishing pole. The derby is limited to children ages 12 and under. Admission is free. For more information and to purchase duck race tickets, call 724-455-4200 or stop by the MWA office in Melcroft. The township will be there to help with all unloading. At no other time will the township receive any junk items. Acceptable items are:

The Saltlick Township supervisors will be conducting a large household item drop-off at the township building located at 147 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

• Vehicle tires. Limit 4 per household, and additional tires will be taken at a price of $2 per tire. All tires must be off rims.

• Televisions and computers.

• Vehicle batteries.

• Appliances. Stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, etc.

• Furniture. Couches, chairs, dressers, beds, mattresses, etc.

• No household garbage, hazardous household waste or paint cans. You must have an identification proving residency in Saltlick Township.

The Bullskin senior citizen’s group will hold a roast beef dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the center, 52 Medsger Road, Connellsville. The meal includes hot roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, veggies, roll, salad and dessert. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for kids age 12 and under. The dinner is eat in or take out. Everyone is welcome.

The annual corn maze event starts this season at Whoa Nellie Dairy, 139 Bear Rocks Road, Acme. Lots of fun activities are planned every weekend. Saturday Dirty Dawgs Concessions, Practically Perfect Painting Crafts and Grassroots Custom Cabinets & Woodworking will be there. Sunday The Pickled Chef and Steel City Chimneys will be there. Springtop Farm’s baby goats, soaps and lotions, Ohiopyle Coffee Roasters, In Your Face face painting are also scheduled to be there both days. Lots more fun happening on upcoming weekends including the corn maze opening on flashlight night, Oct. 14.

The Bullskin senior citizen’s group will hold a breakfast fundraiser 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at their center at 52 Medsger Road, Connellsville. Breakfast includes pancakes (buckwheat and regular), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy, ham, potatoes, coffee, tea, juice, etc. The cost for adults is $9, children under 12, $4 and children under 6 eat for free. Eat in or take out. Everyone is welcome.

The County Line Church of the Brethren will host a Gospel Sing 2 p.m. Oct. 9. Please bring a lawn chair. The church is located at the corner of Route 711 and County Line Road in Champion.

The Indian Head Church of God Community Luncheon Ministry will be offering free homemade soup 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12 while supplies last. Soup will be packaged in containers and distributed in the church parking lot by drive through only. The church is located at 691 Indian Creek Valley Road. Everyone is welcome.

Saltlick Township announced recently reservations for the CW Resh Park Pavilions will start in January 2023. They will no longer hold pavilion rentals from year to year, all reservations will have to be placed yearly.

The Indian Creek Valley food pantry is under new sponsorship through the Critchfield Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. It will still distribute food on the first Wednesday of each month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the same location that it always did. They are in the rear of the old Christian Service Center which is now May’s Country Store. The May’s have graciously permitted the ICV Food Pantry to remain and distribute food as usual.
