Hillsborough County – Hillsborough Spree for All Will Shine Spotlight on Hiking Spree Adaptive Services and Programs

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 11, 2022) – Hillsborough County will highlight the County’s wide array of adaptive sports and accessibility efforts on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr. All People’s Community Park and Life Center.

The inaugural Spree for All will showcase the County’s adaptive sports program for those with physical disabilities and includes information on how residents can participate in the annual Hiking Spree. The 2022 Hiking Spree encourages residents to visit local parks and preserves. Participants who complete at least eight trails by March 31 and earn a patch, a medallion for a walking stick, or a pet bandana.

The Spree for All will include a fun hike, orienteering and backpacking clinics, create-your-own-trail-mix station, fly-fishing demonstrations by the Suncoast Fly Fishers club, and tours of the park complex, which serves as headquarters for Parks & Recreation’s adaptive sports program, including nationally recognized wheelchair basketball and football programs.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr. All People’s Community Park and Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa, FL 33617. Activities will be open to all and tailored to people with disabilities.
