Fun in the sun: Fly-fishing lessons and live music for a cause in downtown Brunswick

Dozens of locals received free fly-fishing lessons from teacher Macauley Lord, on Saturday. Lord said he’s been flyfishing for 54 years and teaching for 37, with L.L. Bean and their Fly Fishers International program.

Eric Frohmberg the host of Angler’s Entomology podcast, answered any and all questions guests had about bugs. Frohmberg said collecting and studying bugs has always been his hobby, going hand in hand with fly fishing because trout and insects share the same living space.

Ed Demont of Brunswick said he has been handcrafting and selling fishing flies to shops all over New England for 35 years. Well practiced at the art form, Demont said each one takes him about five minutes to make.
