Frank Blaydon, age 90, passed away peacefully in the hospital Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Frank was born on June 23, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, PA and grew up in Detroit and White Lake, MI. In college he studied architecture graduating from the University of Detroit. Following college he served in the US Army at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX where he fell in love with the American southwest.
After his two years in the Army, Frank worked for an architectural firm in Birmingham, MI before taking a job in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands in 1961. He would run his own architectural firm, Frank Blaydon & Associates, AIA, in St. Croix for over 30 years. He was an avid sailor enjoying open ocean racing and became Commodore of the St. Croix Yacht Club in 1972. He finally retired in 1992 and moved to Stuart, Florida. In 1996 Frank moved to Boothbay, Maine before moving back to Milford, Michigan where he has lived the last 23 years, married to Judi Warren Blaydon who passed away 6 months ago. In retirement he enjoyed fly fishing and rebuilding classic British cars.
Frank is survived by his son, Sean Blaydon, MD of Austin, TX, his daughter Sarah Blaydon of Los Angeles, CA, his grandchildren Lauren Blaydon in college at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) and Ryan Blaydon in college at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), his step children Emily Pauken of Baltimore, MD, Amy Warren of New York, NY, and Ben Warren of San Francisco, CA, and his ex-wife Cheryl Blaydon of Boothbay, ME.
We would like to thank his circle of friends and care givers who provided care and friendship to him these last months to include Dr. Mary Rupp, Dr. Lawrence MacDonald, his nurse Colleen, Sue Brown, Mary Schimmel, James and Lindsay Kauserud, Greg Beck, and Judi’s daughters Erin and Amy.
We especially want to thank Candy Freiberg and Shawn Trahan who provided incredible compassionate care, comfort and friendship to Frank in his last days.
