PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Frank C. Wisinski, 87, passed away on Jan. 1, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Son of the late Frank and Julia Wisinski, Frank was born and raised in Naugatuck, Conn., graduated from Naugatuck High School and attended Cheshire Academy. He graduated from Norwich University, where he was a three-sport scholarship varsity athlete. Frank was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at both Cheshire Academy and Norwich University.
Frank proudly chose to serve his country as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of captain. Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and was an active member of the Seacoast Detachment of the Marine Corps League, serving as commandant from 2002 to 2005. Frank received the prestigious honor of “Marine of the Year” for his tireless work and dedication.
Frank started his professional career with Texaco Corp. from 1961 to 1976. He was promoted from entry-level sales into a senior leadership position. After a successful career at Texaco, Frank moved with his family to Claremont, N.H., where he worked as the director of the Chamber of Commerce. Frank was awarded “Claremont’s Man of the Year” in 1979 for his outstanding service to the community.
In 1982, Frank and JoAnn moved to the seacoast, settling in Portsmouth, N.H. Frank founded two very successful executive search firms, Berkshire, and Hanover Associates, before retiring in 2001.
Frank knew how to enjoy life to the fullest; he had a strong moral compass and made every person he met feel special. Above all, he loved spending time and making memories with his family.
Frank was an avid golfer and was the club champion at two golf clubs during his playing days while registering two holes in one. Frank loved the outdoors and skiing with his family.
Later, he fell in love with fly fishing and was an active member of the Lake Mansfield Trout Club in Stowe, Vt., for more than 40 years.
Frank was renowned for his talent to tell jokes at a moment’s notice and served as MC on many occasions. He remained active with Norwich University, serving as chair of the Seacoast Alumni Association and was selected to serve on the University President’s Search Committee.
Frank loved giving back to his community and was very active in the Catholic Church.
Frank was a remarkable man who truly lived life to its fullest. He would light up a room with his presence and was loved by so many. Frank lived a wonderful life and reassured his family, “My cup is full,” shortly before passing. He had a tremendous love of family.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, JoAnn, and their three children, Carrie Egan and her husband Chris, Melissa Poltrino and her husband Dennis, and Guy Wisinski; his sister, Lorraine Fogarty of Naugatuck, Conn.; nephew; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Due to COVID-19, funeral services have yet to be scheduled and will be announced later.
