Here are the top stories today in Duluth:

  1. Families in our neighboring city, Dacula, have reported that they are seeing foxes run through their yard at night through the use of the Ring doorbell cameras. The families warn that while foxes aren’t an immediate threat to pets, they can spread diseases like rabies. Make sure your pets are vaccinated, and that you stay away from any wild animals in your yard. (WSBTV)
  2. A local man who graduated from Berkmar High School is now serving at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. His name is Sergio Montanez and graduated from the local school in 2017, the year he joined the Navy. Now, he will be working with state-of-the-art machinery in Jacksonville.(Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. The Gwinnett County 911 center has been experiencing delays since Wednesday morning. Call center employees are doing their best to answer lines as quickly as possible, and they will update the community when the lines have normal wait times. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
  4. Gwinnett Commissioner Kirkland Carden is kicking off District 1 town hall series tonight at 6 p.m. in Sugar Hill. Mr. Carden will be making his way around our district, stopping twice in Duluth, so that he can hear the concerns from the community.(Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  5. Nine trucks from the Georgia Salvation Army have taken their crews to New Orleans to help with Hurricane Ida relief. The trucks all departed from the headquarters that’s located near the Norcross-Duluth border. (11Alive.com WXIA)
