The Fly Fishers of Davis will hear from Andrew Harris of Confluence Outfitters, via Zoom Webinar, who will be presenting on California’s biggest spring creek, the Fall River.

The Fall River is one of the finest spring creeks in the West. It shares many of the traits that make the Henry’s Fork and Silver Creek famous: predictable hatches, crystal-clear water, steady flows and water temperature, sight fishing opportunities, and large trout that feed on small bugs. Harris’ presentation, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, will cover public access, hatches and spring creek techniques.

Harris lives in Red Bluff with his wife Katie, and daughters Mackenzie and Madison. He puts the “outfitter” in Confluence Outfitters, as he is the one who answers the phones and emails. Confluence Outfitters has a great group of guides and a bewildering array of venues in northern California, southern Oregon and Washington. He can help you select the right guide, destination and time of year for your next fly fishing trip.

He is a USCG-licensed captain, which means he can operate a motorized boat in the inland waters of California. He puts this license to good use on the lower reaches of the Sacramento River where he uses his jet boat to fish for striped bass, trout and steelhead. Harris has been a pioneer of using lightweight spey rods for trout on the Lower Sac.

Harris’ jet-boat trout-spey trips are very popular. He also writes regularly for California Fly Fisher magazine and is the author of the Plumas National Forest Fishing Guide, a fly fishing guidebook to the Feather River Country.

Harris is also a software developer. He created LodgeRunner.com, a booking system designed for fishing and hunting lodges and outfitters.
