Philip Reedy of Davis was recently recognized in the Outdoor Writers Association of California Excellence in Craft Awards for his photographic work in multiple categories.
Reedy won Best Outdoor Action Photograph for his image “Advice from Grandpa,” which was published in the Trout Unlimited 2020 Calendar (July) and took first place in the Best Outdoor Medium category with Southwest Fly Fishing magazine.
For his Northwest Fly Fishing magazine cover he received second place in Best Outdoor Feature Photograph; as well as second place in Best Outdoor Photographic Series for images published on Californiafallcolor.com.

Helen Farrar of Davis has joined University of Utah’s class of 2024.
Despite nationwide concerns over declining enrollment for institutions of higher education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Utah saw the largest total enrollment in its 170-year history for the fall 2020 semester. It also welcomed its largest, most diverse freshman class.

Xavier Chambers of Davis has been admitted into Culver-Stockton College’s incoming class for the fall 2021 semester. A senior at Davis Senior High School, he also was awarded the President Scholarship, a $13,000-per-year scholarship.
This scholarship is awarded for four years and is based upon academic credentials. It is renewable provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Mo., is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC is a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
