He was recruited to be a fly-fishing guide in Park City, where he taught what he loved to do on the Weber, Provo, and many other rivers. He so enjoyed camping in his trailer with his family and had great respect for nature, its beauty, and especially for animals his dogs, Lassie, Brandy, and especially his sweet companion, Hurley.

He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon, and served well in the positions to which he was called.
But of all his accomplishments in life, David was most proud of his four beautiful children and their families, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. As their dad and Poppy, he was a great supporter of their families, their many talents and abilities and attended their concerts, sporting events, dinners and various activities.
