During his long years in electrical contracting, he wired saw mills, ships, traffic signals, hotels, houses and tugboats. And innumerable houses in the family!

While in Portland, the family became active in St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church where David served as Senior Warden (president of the board) and sang faithfully in the choir. He also went on a mission trip to Mexico with the youth of the church. He and Janis went on three pilgrimages: to Israel, Turkey, and Scotland/Ireland. In all his travels, including South Africa, England, China and Egypt, he carried his watercolors to sketch and paint many scenes.

After retiring, he and Janis shuffled between Oregon and Montana, finally moving to Sheridan in 2016, which David fondly called “Paradise”. Here he worked at the Ruby Valley Wood Bank, was active in the Ruby Valley Chorale, and was treasurer and lector at Christ Episcopal Church. He shared his many gifts with many in the community.

The family gives thanks for all the quiet, gentle and thoughtful support he always gave us. He was a provisioner of love and care which so many received. David: a multifaceted artist, craftsman, canoe builder, listener, mentor, conversationalist, fellow traveler, and faithful person: his soul was beautiful and his generosity was endless.

We grieve at our loss of this fine man. He died unexpectedly, with complications in a routine surgery.
