David G. Ball, 55, of West Maitland Lane, Neshannock Township, passed away at UPMC Shadyside Hospital Sunday afternoon, Aug. 16, 2020, after a battle with cancer.
David was born in New Castle on Sept. 14, 1964, to the late William Ball and Ellen Elizabeth Cotton Ball.
On Aug. 10, 1996, he married Amy Noel Love, who survives at their residence.
David was a teacher for over 20 years in Sharon City School District.
He was a 1982 graduate of New Castle High School and received his master’s in education from Slippery Rock University.
David was an Eagle Scout and served as an elder at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
Whether it was preparing gourmet coffee one cup at a time or working to perfect his homemade bread to share with family and friends, David had a way of making everyone feel special. He loved his family, church family, students and friends and enjoyed sharing his passions for golf, fly-fishing, the outdoors, flea-marketing, and trains with all. He was an avid reader and loved to go to the theater to see a good movie and enjoy some popcorn.
When David’s colleagues were asked to describe him, the word they all agreed on is “Treasure.” David saw value in every little thing, whether it be the trinkets on his desk or a thought shared by a student. He saw value in every student and every colleague. He was a true gem that made everyone else shine brighter. C.M. Musser School will not be the same without his shining light … but his legacy will live on in every life that he touched.
In addition to his wife, Amy, survivors are two sons, Scott R. Ball and Sam W. Ball, and one daughter, Nora E. Ball, all of the residence; one brother, Brian William Ball and his wife, Danielle, of Cranberry Township; and two nephews, Ryan R. Ball and Travis W. Ball.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Sharon City School District, 215 Forker Blvd, Sharon, PA 16146. Please specify in the memo of the check that it is in memory of David Ball. An educational fund for C.M. Musser students will be created in his memory.
