Daniel G. Cadiz, 94, a resident of Prospect St. in Bennington, VT died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

He was born in Sea Cliff, NY, July 16, 1928. He was the son of the late Alvin and Carol (Maidment) Cadiz. Dan received his early education in Sea Cliff, NY and later was a graduate of Cornell University Class of 1951. Mr. Cadiz served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married the former Josephine (Kelly) Dick in Bennington in 1954.

Mr. Cadiz was a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. In earlier years he was employed by Morrison Knudson. He was employed by the Vermont State Construction Division from 1957 to 1963 and from 1985 to 1993. Mr. Cadiz owned and operated Cadiz Consultants Inc., from 1964 to 1984.

He was Past President of the Vermont Society of Engineers and Past President of the Vermont Society of Surveyors. Mr. Cadiz served on many local commissions and advisory boards in the Bennington area. He took great pride in his engineering contributions to the many Bennington area parks and athletic fields.

His hobbies and interests included fly fishing, canoeing, skiing, traveling and gardening.

Survivors include five sons, James E. Dick and wife Eileen Stockman Dick of Rutland, VT, Edward S. Dick and wife Nancy Mills of Hoosick Falls, NY, David A. Cadiz and wife Carla Birk Cadiz of Norwood, MA, Christopher F. Cadiz and partner Michael Puckly of South Windsor, CT and John D. Cadiz and partner Cory Church of Bennington, VT. Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, his in-laws, Fred and Shirley Kennedy of Bennington, VT, a brother David Cadiz of Kailua, Hawaii along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At the request of Mr. Cadiz there will be no calling hours.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery.

A celebration of life for Daniel G. Cadiz and his wife Josephine K. Cadiz will be held later this fall.
