The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council held its fourth-quarter membership meeting at American Legion Post # 95 with 2022 Chairman Col. Bill Brooks, USA presiding and 16 member-organizations represented by more than 40 individuals. The membership elected the 2023 Executive Board. 

The board includes Chairman: Wayne Belk, American Post # 159, Hixson; Chairman-Elect: Tommy Mitchell, American Legion Post # 291, Chattanooga; Vice-Chairman: David Carter, American Legion Post # 190, Dunlap; Directors: Chuck Alsobrook, Hamilton County Veterans Services Officer; Jim Beasley, American Legion Post # 159, Hixson; Mickey McCamish, Military Officers Association of America; Bill Norton, Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter # 203; Secretary: Linda Moss Mines, Hamilton County Historian/Chief John Ross Chapter, NSDAR; Treasurer: Mark Parks, American Legion Post 291, Chattanooga; and Immediate Past Chairman: Bill Brooks, MOAA, Director, Hamilton County JROTC.

In 1983, the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council was established by Brigadier General Carl Levi and other local military organization leaders. CAVC provides quarterly briefings by Veteran Administration personnel; streamlined support efforts; celebratory event coordination including the Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and is a centralized resource repository for military veterans and their families in the tri-state area including Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.

In addition to the regularly-scheduled quarterly CAVC meetings, the Executive Board reminds citizens of these free 2023 public events:

Friday, May 5 – 74th Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade

Monday, May 29 – Memorial Day Commemoration – Chattanooga National Cemetery

Saturday, November 11 – Veterans Day Commemoration – TN National Guard Armory, S. Holtzclaw Avenue, Chattanooga
