Arkansas Colleges of Health Education representatives are hoping to raise $300,000 for medical equipment at its inaugural gala on Sept. 25.

The gala is dubbed On Call: An Elegant Evening for Research. It costs $2,500 to sponsor a table at the event and individual tickets are $200. Jackie Krutsch, the executive director of development at ACHE, expects approximately 350 people to attend.

Krutsch plans to make the gala a yearly event. This year it will be held at the Research Institute Health and Wellness Center, which was formerly known as the Golden Living Building at 1000 Fianna Way.

Choctaw Casino & Resort, Pocola is sponsoring the gala.

The college’s advancement advisory council came up with the idea for the gala.

“They said as the institution is moving forward this will be an important annual event to highlight the work that the school is doing,” Krutsch said about the advancement advisory council.

While it will be a black-tie event, it will have a science, research theme.

The event is “just really emphasizing the importance of research in the advancement of medicine and health and wellness,” Krutsch said.

The equipment that the college is trying to raise money for includes a florescense  microscopy and quantitative polymerase chain reaction technology as well as a Luminex xMAP, which “will provide assessment of up to 500 different proteins, biomarkers, and cell signals,” according to information provided by the college.

When guests first arrive at the gala, they will be greeted with signature drinks designed by the mixologist at Revel and hors d’oeuvres. They will then have dinner.

There will be a drawing featuring nine different items including dinners, monthly floral arrangements, and a fragrance collection.

“It’s very high-end, and it’s really nice,” said Susan Devero, the executive director of marketing, communications and community relations for ACHE, about the fragrance collection.

There will also be a live auction that will feature Dan+Shay VIP tickets as well as a plane ride to the concert and a hotel stay. The auction will also offer a fly fishing trip and a trip to Maui.

“It’s just an exciting party,” Krutsch said.
