Obituary of Alan Edward Czenkusch
Alan E Czenkusch was born March 31, 1944, in Temple, TX, the son of Edward and Josephine (Jackson) Czenkusch. He died May 13, 2022, at his home in Loveland CO.
Alan grew up in Bartlesville OK, graduating from College High in 1962. In 1966, he moved to Gunnison CO where he attended Western State College until 1973. While at WSC he was one of the charter members of the Western State College Search & Rescue and a senior level member of the National Ski Patrol, patrolling for Crested Butte and Monarch Pass ski areas between 1968 and 1972.
From 1974 to 1980 he was a paramedic for Physicians Ambulance assigned to the North Washington Fire Department in unincorporated Adams County. The stories of time spent in the fire house were legendary.
He then went to work for what was then the Colorado Division of Wildlife. In 1982, he started as a District Wildlife Manager 1 in Kremmling. He helped develop the Medical Emergency Training and high angle rescue programs for the DOW. He worked in several areas over the years and retired from the DOW in 2006 as the fishery biologist in Glenwood Springs.
He loved the out of doors and was an avid fisherman, traveling to fish new waters and enjoying saltwater fly fishing in the Texas gulf and the Bahamas.
He was also passionate about music and was known to ask anyone he met “do you play music?”. Over the years he played with several groups on the western slope.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, his daughters, Caroline and Mary, his sister, Caroline Johnson, and stepdaughters, Laura, Stephanie and L Kimberly. He is predeceased by his parents and his son, Edward Sutton.
A celebration of his life will be held June 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Galilee Baptist Church 2525 Van Buren Ct Loveland CO.
