CASPER, Wyo. — 28 teams of two anglers will compete for the “Golden Trout Trophy” during the up-coming 8th annual “Fishin’ for the Mission” fly fishing tournament.
The event is a fundraiser for the Wyoming Rescue Mission and begins at 7 am Thursday, June 10 at Red Butte Ranch, located at 8550 South Bessemer Bend.
“This year, there are 28 teams of two anglers each, and each team is randomly assigned a professional guide, courtesy of Wyoming Fly Fishing Guide Service and Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing,” the Wyoming Rescue Mission said in a Monday press release. “Proceeds will go to care for those struggling with homelessness at Wyoming Rescue Mission.”

“The traveling — and coveted — Golden Trout Trophy will be awarded to the first-place team, with awards being presented to the top three teams with the largest fish. Other fun prizes will be awarded to the anglers who caught the smallest fish and the biggest sucker.”
Ahead of the tournament, a fishing guide meet-and-greet dinner and Calcutta will be held at 5:30 pm Wednesday, June 9 at True Cross River Commons, located at 465 North Poplar Street.
“Fishin’ for the Mission gets us doing what we love: fly fishing the mighty North Platte, all the while raising funds to restore Wyoming lives in need,” Wyoming Rescue Mission Executive Director Brad Hopkins said. “This event sold out before we could advertise. We could not be more grateful!”
