YOUNGSTOWN — A man living on Porter Street in Warren did not find fish, only trouble, when he went to Powersdale Avenue for a date on the South Side about 4 a.m. New Year’s Day.

The man, 25, told police he went to a home in the 1300 block to meet a woman he met on the dating app Plenty of Fish.

He knocked on the door, and a woman answered the door. But three men appeared inside the house, holding pistols and ordering him to get into the cab of his truck with another man. The two other men got into the bed of the truck.

Later, the driver stopped the truck, and the three men started hitting and kicking the victim, according to the report. They took his phone that contained his driver’s license and various cards.

The man fled on foot and got someone to call 911. A Youngstown police officer arrived and gave the victim a ride to the police station to call his parents for a ride.

At 8:31 a.m., an officer spotted a truck like the one stolen from the Warren man on Garland Avenue on the East Side. The vehicle took off at a high speed onto Stewart Avenue.

The truck went left of center at Lansdowne Boulevard, causing a woman to fly out of the open passenger door of the truck at Miami and Stewart avenues. The woman told police she was kidnapped by the men in the pickup truck. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She said two men in the truck pushed her out.

Police still are investigating the incident.
