Are friends Chase and Aimee Bartee of Tight Loops have released another episode in their series “For Wild’s Sake: The Rare Trout Chronicles,” shot in 2020. After several months of desert rambling, and unexpected lockdowns, their quest leads them to the White Mountains of eastern Arizona in search of Apache Trout (Oncorhynchus apache), but the winds of fate have other plans. With early season temperatures skyrocketing, the streams in Apache Sitgreaves National Forest were swollen with runoff, forcing them to abandon ship and kill some time in New Mexico while they waited out the torrents. Luckily, with improved conditions they were able to seek another rare trout, The Rio Grande Cutthroat (Oncorhynchus clarkii virginalis).
As always, the visuals are stunning, and they are great storytellers. The video is almost a half hour long, but you certainly won’t be bored.
