The standard Glo Bug or other simple egg pattern is a breeze to tie in large sizes, but what about when you want a size 22? The latest video Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions features step-by-step instructions for tying a Micro Egg, a pattern that Tim learned from his friend and local New Jersey guide Keith Gardner.

As usual, Tim’s method for creating the fly is all about making each step as easy as possible, and the ingenious method for creating a yarn dispenser may make you smack your head and say, “Now, why didn’t I think of that?” Make sure you follow all the steps, though, to avoid cutting the yarn. Whip up a few of these over the holidays, and you’ll be ready for late winter and early spring trout fishing.
