For many anglers, the Adams is a “must-have” fly because it seems to imitate a broad spectrum of mayflies, making it productive in many angling situations. That pattern has been around since the early 1920s, so it has clearly passed the test of time. In this great video, Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions shows you how to tie this pattern, using a tactical dry-fly hook and a wing made from EP Trigger Point Fibers. Tim ties in the winging material as more of a post, like you’d see on a parachute pattern, but wraps the hackle in the traditional method. The result is an elegant dry fly that you can tie in a variety of colors.
