We’ve all been there: you’re out on the river on a cold day, and you need to add tippet to your leader. Problem is, your fingers simply don’t work right when they’re chilled. Here’s a neat little tip from Greenhorn Flyhorn that will help. He shows you how to tie a double or triple surgeon’s knot using your hemostat, which requires very little digital dexterity. It’s a sweet little trick, and my only question is whether or not twisting the tippet material makes for a weaker knot. Regardless, a slightly weaker knot is better than no knot at all, amirite?
