Here’s a great tip from George Daniel that will help you make quick, accurate adjustments to your nymph depth as you move from spot to spot across the day. He explains why he doesn’t like using split-shot alone and then shows you how he pairs a single shot with some sink putty. The beauty of George’s system is that you don’t have to keep adding and removing split shot–which can be a pain in the butt, especially if your hands are cold–and the putty gives you the ability to make micro adjustments even within the same pool.
