Edgewater – DENTON, TONY MICHAEL “MICKEY” SR.

Tony Michael “Mickey” Denton Sr., age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina; Tony moved to this area in 1968 from Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Tony served in the United States Coast Guard, and then went on to be a quality control specialist at Kennedy Space Center. He was raised protestant, loved spending time in the mountains, fly fishing, camping and visiting the springs. His life revolved around his family, taking them on his outdoor adventures.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Judy; a daughter, Tonja Denton; a son, Tony Denton II, and his wife, Julie; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way; a sister, Donna Patterson; 2 brothers, Benjamin Smith and Gene Smith; “adopted” son, Mark Palma and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Garland Denton.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 27, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with his son, Tony Denton II, officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday.

Flowers are appreciated but donations may be made in Mr. Denton’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
