FLUSHING, MI – Tippett, Sr., Thomas John “Tom”, of Flushing, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27th, at the age of 82.

Tom was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, on February 14th, 1940. On May 26th, 1962, he married Mary Piche and celebrated 55 years of marriage, prior to her passing in 2018. On August 4th, 1994, Tom received a heart transplant at Henry Ford Hospital, and was forever grateful to the donor family. He enjoyed fly fishing, deer hunting, spending time with his family, and cheering for his Michigan State Spartans.

Surviving are children: Thomas John, Jr. (Pauline), Beth Kotowicz (Evert), Larry (Lisa), and Jerry (Jennifer); grandchildren: Thomas John III “T.J.” (Lindsay), Jared (Christie), Alexandria, and Nichole; great-grandchildren: Leo, Max, and Thomas John IV “John”; brothers: Tony, Bruce, and sister: Maureen.

Tom was preceded by his parents: Roy Tippett and Ruth Peck, and brothers: Gerald and James.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 6th, 2022, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 319 North Cherry Street Flushing, with Father Jonathan Perrotta officiating.

Burial will take place at Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 5th, 2022, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to the Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gift of Life Michigan.
