Free concert planned at Shrine Center
The Pittsburgh Shrine Center will present a free outdoor concert featuring Bobby Thompson and the Groove from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday under cover at the center, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Seating and tables will be provided, and food and beverages will be sold. No outside food and beverages, please.
Pets to compete in library costume contest
Community Library of Allegheny Valley is sponsoring a Pet Costume Contest from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Harrison.
Categories are children’s book character, famous literary character, famous classic novel and best of show. Any and all pets are welcome.
Owners can register their pet online in advance or in person the day of the event. Photos of pets can be submitted online for judging or come to the library to be judged in person the day of the event. Cost is $10 online and $15 in person. Winners will be announced at 1 p.m. and winner need not be present.

Food pantry available in Harrison
The Natrona Community Pantry is in Natrona Community Park, 12-20 River Road, Harrison.
Anyone in need is welcome to visit. Donations are welcome. Suggested items include canned fruit and vegetables, spices, salt and pepper, tuna, cake mix, powdered milk and tea bags. Take what you need, give what you can.
Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday
The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
