The Fly Fishing Show kicked off its 2023, six-city tour yesterday in Marlborough, MA. For many anglers, the show is an annual pilgrimage—one where they can ogle, shop for, and even try out new gear; take in seminars and presentations on everything from casting to fly fishing travel; meet celebrity fly tyers and watch them at their craft; lay their hands on for hard-to-find fly tying supplies; and much more.

After a three-day stint in the Boston suburb, the show will move on to visit five more U.S. cities over the next month and a half. Next week, the show will move on to Edison, NJ, beginning on Friday, January 27. The central New Jersey show is the tour’s largest gathering, thanks to its location, which is sandwiched between the New York and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.

From there, The Fly Fishing Show moves onto Atlanta, Denver, Pleasanton, CA, and Lancaster, PA, wrapping up its 2023 circuit in early March.

This year, Fly Fishers International (FFI) will be offering free fly fishing instruction at the its “Learning Center,” located directly on the main floor at each show. Basic fly-casting, fly-tying, and knots, will be taught throughout the day during each scheduled date of the Fly Fishing Show.

Also touring with the show, as has become customary, is the International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4). The film festival will hold a screening at each stop along The Fly Fishing Show Tour. Screenings will take place on Friday nights.

The 2023 show will also play host to the second annual Fly Fishing Consumer Choice Awards. After a successful inaugural campaign, the awards are back with the addition of 4 new categories, giving show-goers a chance to vote for their favorites in a total of 39 “Best-of” categories.
