Vail remains a mountain paradise, beckoning with endless opportunities for hiking, biking, river rafting, horseback riding and fly fishing.

The Antlers at Vail hotel is open and dedicated to keeping guests comfortable and safe while getting the most out of a Vail, Colorado, mountain getaway this summer and fall. In addition to its new, expanded lobby with high-speed elevator and a mini walking tour of specially commissioned Colorado artists’ work, Antlers has created four new lodging specials and packages that include terrific deals, booking flexibility, and opportunities for extended stays. As this fun #VailStrong video shows, the Antlers team is committed to welcoming new and returning guests while going the distance to create a healthy and relaxing environment – and the hotel’s home-away-from-home condominium suites and open-to-the-outdoors layout make social distancing a breeze.

Conveniently located at the base of Vail Mountain and nestled up to Gore Creek, Antlers is just steps from the broad pedestrian-plaza center of Vail’s family-friendly Lionshead Village, where restaurants are open with expanded patio dining. Meanwhile guests can enjoy eating home-cooked or takeout meals in spacious Antlers condos – from studio suites to four-bedrooms, all are equipped with full-size kitchens and dining areas, comfy living rooms with gas fireplaces and private balconies with gas grills.

Vail remains a mountain paradise, beckoning with endless opportunities for hiking, biking, river rafting, horseback riding and fly fishing. A short walk from Antlers, the Eagle-Bahn Gondola resumes service July 17, with Eagle’s Nest open for grab-n-go food, hiking, riding the Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster, and a return of gondola bike hauls for downhill trail-riding excitement. For a taste of high-country culture, the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater is presenting a series of outdoor events that follow public health orders, with new outdoor movies and free concerts. Bravo! Vail has also reimagined its summer program, July 16 – August 6, 2020, including a mobile performance stage with free chamber music offerings; and the popular Vail farmers market has reopened with a no-charge ticketing system to avoid crowding.

Another family-friendly offering, Antlers at Vail’s Beat the Heat deal returns this summer with three nights at a 20-percent discount on lodging from studios to luxurious four-bedroom suites, plus a complimentary pool toy for the kids to enjoy in the Antlers’ stunning mountainside pool, and delicious icy treats for four from Vail’s Rimini Gelato & Café. The Beat the Heat package is available June 1 – September 30, 2020. Prices start at $816 plus tax for a family of four in a one-bedroom with bunk alcove condominium.

In January, the Antlers completed a $5 million renovation that included a beautifully expanded lobby and front desk area with fresh mountain modern styling, as well as a new high-speed elevator. To complement the project, the hotel has embarked on creating a collection of artworks commissioned from and installed by regional artists, beginning with a sculpted relief of a majestic elk by Bonnie Wakeman in the lobby. Recently, more works – a 73-piece collection of faux bois panels by Cindee Lundin – are being installed in public areas while Lundin serves as artist in residence at the Antlers this summer. The works join the hotel’s original artwork – and favorite for photo opps – the impressive life-size bronze sculpture of two dueling elk that holds pride of place in the courtyard.

Guests at the Antlers at Vail can rest assured that the hotel has developed a comprehensive health plan that follows the official AHLA Stay-Safe Protocols, including the frequent cleaning of surfaces in all public spaces such as luggage racks, door handles and elevator buttons, all employees wearing PPE, new signs to encourage precautions, and stickers placed in potentially high traffic areas to promote social distancing. Other new protocols include a self-check-in service by request, or advance preparation of registration packets and plexiglass dividers for those who prefer in-person check-in. Antlers has suspended daily housekeeping and leaves condominiums empty for two days between guests; decorative blankets and pillows have been removed from bedrooms so that all bedding can be laundered and immediately wrapped in plastic until the beds are made; and all employees receive daily health screenings.

The Antlers at Vail hotel staff wears masks and disposable gloves for cleaning with gloves changed between rooms, and the disinfecting of guest suites includes special attention to high-touch areas such as remote controls, light switches and door handles. And all guest suites open onto outdoor walkways with open-to-the-air stairways also available. A dedicated health plan page that details practices is updated regularly on the Antlers website at http://www.antlersvail.com/health-plan/ – and includes a short video outlining the protocols in a visual format.
