In January, the Antlers completed a $5 million renovation that included a beautifully expanded lobby and front desk area with fresh mountain modern styling, as well as a new high-speed elevator. To complement the project, the hotel has embarked on creating a collection of artworks commissioned from and installed by regional artists, beginning with a sculpted relief of a majestic elk by Bonnie Wakeman in the lobby. Recently, more works – a 73-piece collection of faux bois panels by Cindee Lundin – are being installed in public areas while Lundin serves as artist in residence at the Antlers this summer. Guests at the Antlers at Vail can rest assured that the hotel has developed a comprehensive health plan that follows the official AHLA Stay-Safe Protocols, including the frequent cleaning of surfaces in all public spaces such as luggage racks, door handles and elevator buttons, all employees wearing PPE, new signs to encourage precautions, and stickers placed in potentially high traffic areas to promote social distancing. Other new protocols include a self-check-in service by request, or advance preparation of registration packets and plexiglass dividers for those who prefer in-person check-in. Antlers has suspended daily housekeeping and leaves condominiums empty for two days between guests; decorative blankets and pillows have been removed from bedrooms so that all bedding can be laundered and immediately wrapped in plastic until the beds are made; and all employees receive daily health screenings.
The Antlers at Vail hotel staff wears masks and disposable gloves for cleaning with gloves changed between rooms, and the disinfecting of guest suites includes special attention to high-touch areas such as remote controls, light switches and door handles. And all guest suites open onto outdoor walkways with open-to-the-air stairways also available.
