Terry L. Austin ascended peacefully on October 1, 2022 with her family by her side after a long battle with AUD following gastric bypass surgery in 2011.

Terry is survived by her lifelong partner of 29 years Nusrat Sadiq and their dog Buddy. Together they resided in Littleton, MA. Terry was born to the late Peggy J. Brown and Wayne L. Austin in the town of Kinderhook, NY. Terry is also survived by her four siblings, Laurie, Sam, Lisa and Tui. Terry’s unconditional love and wise guidance will be most missed by her many grateful nephews and nieces on both sides of her and Nusrat’s family.

An accomplished businesswoman, Terry received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Albany and an MBA from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. She held executive positions in real estate with both Getty and XtraMart, as well as consulting for Global Partners,

AppleGreen and various independent firms. Terry, a rare woman in the gas station industry was involved in hundreds of business transactions. She was known for her work ethic, quick wit, sense of humor and ability to put everyone at ease to agree on deals.

One of Terry’s proudest achievements was co-founding Wild Women Outfitters (WWO) in 1999 with her sister, Lisa. Terry was the company’s CEO. A pioneering retail concept, Wild Women Outfitters was the first and foremost full service outfitter for women in the outdoor industry. WWO provided high quality, leading edge, hard to find gear and apparel specifically made for women. Wild Women Outfitters provided a supportive community for women and their families to explore their outdoor ambitions. They offered outdoor clinics in fly-fishing, biking, snow shoeing and sea kayaking. Too, they supported local women centric events such as the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walks and Tufts 10k.

Terry deeply cared for and loved her family and friends. She often held counsel with the youngest members making sure they were following their ambitions and believed in their unique talents. She taught them how to fly fish, swim, raft down rapids, start a camp fire and observe nature’s smallest wonders from a trailhead planting the seeds of confidence that would later transfer into their adult lives.
